BATIC 2025 Kick-Off, Day 1: Igniting Tomorrow’s Digital Evolution

The Bali Annual Telkom International Conference (BATIC) 2025 officially kicked off today, gathering hundreds of global and regional telecom leaders, policymakers, and industry innovators under the theme “Igniting Tomorrow’s Digital Evolution”.

Nusa Dua, Bali — 26 August 2025 – BATIC 2025 officially kicked off today, gathering hundreds of global and regional telecom leaders, policymakers, and industry innovators under the theme “Igniting Tomorrow’s Digital Evolution”.

Danantara Managing Director Setyanto Hantoro, together with President Director of Telkom Group Dian Siswarini and Telin’s Chief Executive Officer Budi Satria Dharma Purba, officially inaugurated the conference at Mangupura Hall, Bali International Convention Center (BICC), The Westin Resort, Nusa Dua. The event was also attended by Danantara Director of Business Performance and Assets Optimization Bhimo Aryanto, as well as PT Telkom Indonesia, Tbk executives: Muhammad Awaluddin – Vice President Director; Honesti Basyir – Director of Wholesale & International Services; Faizal Rochmad Djoemadi – Director of Digital IT; Nanang Hendarno – Director of Network; Seno Soemadji – Director of SBD & Portfolio; Veranita Yosephine – Director of Enterprise & Business Service; and Arthur Angelo Syailendra – Director of Finance & Risk Management.

Conference Day 1 carried the sub-theme “Laying the Digital Foundation,” emphasizing the critical role of infrastructure in driving future digital innovations. As digital transformation accelerates globally, building a strong, secure, and scalable foundation is essential for emerging technologies such as AI, next-generation connectivity, and advanced platforms. Discussions throughout the day explored how subsea cables, data centers, and secure network solutions form the backbone of a resilient and interconnected ecosystem, ensuring seamless digital experiences and long-term sustainability. The message was clear: building smarter networks today sets the stage for tomorrow’s breakthroughsDay 1 opened with Sam Evans setting the stage with “Unlocking the Power of Future Technology,” emphasizing the need for networks that create real value and enable transformative innovations.

This was followed by Session 1, featuring an opening speech from Setyanto Hantoro, “We focus on eight key sectors, with digital infrastructure at the core. Our goal is to position Indonesia as Southeast Asia’s digital hub while integrating AI, cloud, and green technologies into every investment. Beyond funding, we bring partnerships, technology transfer, and strong execution to drive growth and resilience. We invite global investors to join us in shaping Indonesia’s future.”

Session 2, where Dian Siswarini delivered her keynote titled “Empowering the Digital Future: Connectivity, Innovation & Growth,” underlining how advanced networks, AI-driven automation, and robust digital infrastructure open new growth frontiers. The momentum continued with Session 3, a keynote panel on “Next-Gen Infrastructure: Enabling the Tech Revolution,” exploring how subsea cables, 5G, AI, cloud, and edge computing are reshaping the global digital landscape. Notable contributions came from Budi Satria Dharma Purba, Jayanth Nagarajan, Paul Guohua Liu, Derrick Buckley, Dr. Eduardo Mateo, Eddie Tay, Leon Chen, and Virginie Frouin, and Frederick Chui.

Session 4, featured a keynote from China Mobile International, focusing on the overarching theme “Laying the Digital Foundation.” In his address, Tang Yong highlighted the critical role of robust and scalable digital infrastructure as the backbone for next-generation technologies such as 5G, AI, and cloud computing. He emphasized the importance of cross-border collaboration, network resilience, and sustainable practices to ensure a future-ready digital ecosystem capable of driving global innovation.

Session 5, “Beyond Boundaries: How Technology is Transforming Communication”, which explored how emerging technologies such as AI, cloud computing, 5G, and immersive platforms are revolutionizing communication in the digital era. The session addressed key challenges in security, compliance, and accessibility while emphasizing the role of advanced messaging in enhancing user experience and enterprise collaboration. The discussion featured insights from leading experts, including Kharisma, Matt Ekram, Goran Valjak, Lim Li San, Nabil Baccouche, and Pushpendra Singh, who shared perspectives on creating seamless and intelligent communication ecosystems for businesses and consumers globally.

In her remarks, Dian Siswarini, President Director of Telkom Group, reaffirmed the event’s vision, “BATIC is more than a conference — it is a platform for collective action. Through collaboration, we aim to build a connected future for all. Telkom is transforming into a strategic holding, focusing on B2C, digital infrastructure, international business, and B2B solutions. We introduced Indonesia Cable Express (ICE) to position Indonesia as an Indo-Pacific digital hub and launched the AI Center of Excellence to drive talent, innovation, and real-world AI solutions. These steps strengthen Indonesia’s role in the global digital ecosystem.

Echoing this, Budi Satria Dharma Purba, CEO of Telin, pointed out the importance of partnerships, “In a world driven by data and connectivity, success depends on innovating together. We see strong optimism in Asia-Pacific’s connectivity sector, with cloud, 5G, and AI driving 35–40% annual demand growth. Satellites remain vital to bridge remote gaps, and future investments must focus on next-gen networks and orchestration for resilience, flexibility, and sustainable digital transformation.

At the event, several signing ceremonies were conducted, including collaborations between BBIX and Telin for Remote IX Partnership Expansion; Data Center Specialist and Telin for a channel agreement; Velo Technologies and Telin for a channel agreement; and ACASIA and Telin for a channel agreement.

The first day of BATIC 2025 concluded with a Gala Dinner at Taman Bhagawan, where participants enjoyed warm Balinese hospitality and vibrant networking sessions, laying the foundation for further collaboration over the remaining days of the conference
