Bali, 22 May 2014 – Telkom was named Wireless Broadband Aliance (WBA) as the first WiFi Service Provider in Indonesia and second in the Southeast Asia Region certified Interoperability Compliance Program (ICP). The certificate is received directly by Dir. NITS Telkom Rizkan Chandra from WBA Senior Program Director Tiago Rodrigues in the seminar “Telkom Readiness to Implement The Best Quality of Indonesia WiFi for Future Seamless Communication” which was initiated by DWB, at Ayodya Resort Ballroom Nusa Dua Bali, Thursday (22/05).
Rizkan Chandra subsequently submitted the certificate to EGM DWB Telkom Pramasaleh Hario Utomo, witnessed by Director General of Application and Informatics Ministry of Komifo Bambang Heru Tjahjono and Chairman Mastel Setyanto P. Santosa, who is also President Director of Telkom in 1995.
Rizkan explained that the real benefits of obtaining this ICP Certification are the opening of Roaming International implementation opportunities, stimulating the development of National Wireless Brodband industry, accelerating broadband penetration service penetration, and increasing the growth of industrial sector. Not only that, Rizkan also mentioned this is good for the growth of the national industrial sector that utilizes broadband services to improve competitiveness and ultimately narrow the Ddigital gap in the homeland.
“The acquisition of ICP certification further strengthens Telkom's passion to expand its service network throughout Indonesia, in accordance with the Main Program: Indonesia Digital Network 2015 (IDN 2015) which is the masterpiece of Telkom for Indonesia with menyedikan 1 million WiFi for Indonesian people,”said Rizkan in his opening.
On the sidelines of the event was also signed the cooperation of Broadband Supply signed by Director of Marketing and Sales Telin Natigor Sitorus and Managing Director Asia iPass Francis Yip. There is also a WiFi Indonesia Readiness Preparedness Exhibition which is marked by the start of the pilot of Hotspot 2.0 service in Ngurah Rai Airport area and Ayodya Resort Bali Hotel.
Also attending this event are EGM DTT Iskriono, EGM DTB Pasabri Pesti, EGM DCS Suparwiyanto, and Senior Leader of Telkom. Also present are representatives of Global WiFi Service Providers such as BT, iPass, academia from universities, creative industry players, the tourism industry, bank industry, and some representatives of the telecommunication industry, as well as Indonesian internet service providers as well as global technology providers such as Cisco and Elite Core.

WBA is a world body that aims to ensure the best customer service through technological innovation, interoperability and high security with the implementation of Next Generation WiFi. The WBA, established in 2003, now houses over 100 members, including Telco carrier and WIFI Service Provider Tier-1 such as AT & T, BT, PCCW, KT, SKT, NTT DOCOMO, Comcast, Time Warner Cable, China Mobile, and Global technology providers such as Cisco, Google, Intel, Apple, Samsung.
One of the major WBA programs is to facilitate WiFi Service Providers to provide International Roaming services to customers by first validating the capabilities of the WiFi service and infrastructure of each service provider to conform to the requirements and quality of world standards.
Telkom itself has been a member of the WBA since 2013 and has joined the WNA program for the validation of WiFi service and infrastructure services through Indonesia WiFi (WiFi.ID). The validation process, which began in January 2014, led to the establishment of Telkom as the recipient of ICP and recognized that the quality of Indonesia's WiFi services and infrastructure are aligned with other world-class WiFi Service Providers.***LW_Red09
