Tokyo, 26 February 2017 – New Business Sales Group I Account Manager 4 Telin, Riyan Baharuddin who is also a member of Telin Runners managed to get one chance to participate in the Tokyo Marathon race held on Sunday (26/2/2017). This is the first time for Riyan to participate in World Major Marathon and the only representative of Telkom Group.
In the race, Riyan managed to complete the full marathon in 04.57.26, and managed to break the personal best of the full marathon record on its own behalf at Bali Marathon 2016 in 05.15.00.
According to Riyan, TelkomGroup colleagues no need to be afraid to try in the event of international runs such as Tokyo Marathon. Because on that occasion there will be many extraordinary experience especially sharing knowledge about sports, especially marathon with other participants.
“At this time I get an extraordinary experience especially the hospitality given by the local residents who encourage participants along the route run. What an unforgettable experience", Riyan said.
Tokyo Marathon is one of 6 World Marathon majors besides Boston, Virgin Money London, BMW Berlin, Bank of America Chicago, and TCS New York City Marathon. Tokyo Marathon is the only 6 World Marathon majors held in Asia. To get the participant slot in Tokyo Marathon is not easy. Registration opened one year before, and not all registrars can get slot to run. Only those who meet the qualifications and get a draw that can participate in this prestigious international event.
Participants are runners from more than 50 countries. The total number of participants entering the registration application is 321,459 participants for the marathon while the 10K category is 1,244 participants. While for the selected participants who qualified are 35,500 participants for the marathon and 500 participants for the 10K category.***Risma
