Jakarta, September 2021 –In a bid to bring the pandemic under control, the Indonesian Government has implemented various restrictions on public activities, known as PPKM (Pemberlakuan Pembatasan Kegiatan Masyarakat), in Java and Bali. These restrictions are expected to shutter many Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME).

In line with the implementation of AKHLAK values within Telin, it is expected that the collaborative spirit that binds employees together will move them to help communities affected by the pandemic. Telin therefore initiated a fundraising activity themed “Let’s Give Back to Our Community!” which was handled by Telin’s Culture Agents in collaboration with various units in Telin. This activity was carried out from August 31st, 2021 until September 10th, 2021. Teliners actively participated in fundraising and managed to collect a total of IDR16 million which was distributed to 6 MSMEs located in the provinces of Banten and North Sulawesi, Indonesia.

With the assistance from Teliners in the Manado Office, donations were disbursed to three MSMEs on Friday, September 17th, 2021, specifically to a small home sewing business managed by Mrs. Martje Wewengkang in Kaima Village, a vegetable seller business managed by Mrs. Fransin Langie at Airmadidi, and a small restaurant managed by Mrs Christa at Kema Village. Each MSME is struggling to survive as their income nowadays barely reaches 50% of their pre-pandemic income.

The rest of the funds was handed over to three MSMEs in Pamulang, Banten on Saturday, September 18th, 2021. All three were culinary businesses. The one owned by Mrs. Mansyur sold a variety of pepes dishes, Mrs. Ari sold brownies and Mr. Dayat sold bolen bread. Mrs. Ari said that it was not easy to survive in the pandemic as she lost her job in a convection factory, so with the limited resources that she had, she tried to set up a small business to support her family.

Telin CEO Budi Satria Dharma Purba (Busat) is strongly supportive of the initiative and encourages Teliners to give more to their communities. “Let us work hand in hand to help our country. Hopefully our initiatives to help others can accelerate the economic recovery in Indonesia,” he said.
